Hollywood hasn’t been the most supportive when it comes to homosexual celebrities. For women, it’s even worse. For years they had to keep it a secret. Many of these actresses are coming out of the closet now and embracing their sexuality. This is also encouraging others to embrace theirs. Here are celebrities you did not know were lesbian.
1. Ellen Degeneres
Famous tv show host Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi have been good friends before they started dating each other a few years later. Rossi admitted that she had a hard time accepting her sexuality even though she felt a strong connection with Ellen. After being apart for three years, these lesbian celebrities got together in 2004. The couple married in 2008 in California when it became legal.
2. Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart is currently in a relationship with writer and actress Dylan Meyer. Stewart had a slip of tongue in an interview with InStyle and spoke about the pressure of dating in the public eye. She later clarified that it was not because she felt ashamed of being gay. She just prefers to keep her private life private. Stewart met Meyer on a movie set 8 years ago. But these lesbian celebs didn’t reconnect until six years after. According to Stewart, that time was “sort of cagey.”
3. Angelina Jolie
This lesbian celebrity has had a very eventful dating life. The mom of six is known for her humanitarian causes. Angelina is not one to shy away from love. She has been in love many times. However, one relationship stood out. She was in a relationship with Jenny Shimizu. They met on the set of Foxfire. Angelina confessed she feel for her at first sight. This 32-year-old lesbian celebrity was in the SXSW featured session Making Change On and Off the Screen. Before she moved in with Johny Depp, she was dating Von Ree from 2008 to 2012. 5. Janelle Monae
Rumors about popular singer has been circling for years. Finally, this beautiful lesbian came out as a queer woman in an interview with Rolling Stone today. In the interview, she said even though she didn’t officially confirm any of the rumors, she’s been dropping hints in her music for years. In “Mushrooms & Roses” and “Q.U.E.E.N.” there is a reference to a character named Mary as a lover. However, she didn’t address the rumors surrounding her and Tessa Thompson.
6. Megan Fox
Megan Fox is out and proud as a bisexual celebrity. Jennifer’s Body star showed off a rainbow manicure on Instagram to celebrate pride month and her followers absolutely loved it! This isn’t the first time she boldly expressed her sexuality. The mother of three revealed to GQ that she has a celebrity crush on fellow actress Olivia Wilde in 2008. Megan is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and she isn’t afraid to let anyone know it!
7. Ellen Page
Hollywood actress Ellen Page admitted she is homosexual during an emotional speech at a conference for gay teens. The “Juno” star said her spirit suffered, her mental health suffered and her relationship suffered. All because of the social stigma. The Canadian actress received a standing ovation for her speech. She also said there are way too many kids that go through bullying or rejection just because of who they are.
8. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus might just be the hottest lesbian woman in the Hollywood industry. She has always been bold in her love life and sexuality. The 26-year-old singer has had many high-profile romances with both men and women. She had been dating her recently ex-husband Liam Hemsworth on again off again for a decade. Cyrus is a longtime LGBTQ advocate and always shared her views on sexuality. From tweeting about dreams of lip-locking with Katy Perry to opening up about her sexual desires with her family to her music, she has bold written all over her.

This female celebrity came out as lesbian years before. She has been very upfront about this as well. She even joked about being a lesbian with Jerry Seinfeld on “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”. Not so surprisingly, she played lesbian characters with pinpoint accuracy. Still, her sexuality didn’t get as much a buzz as other celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres. In a very emotional speech, McKinnon spoke about what it means for L.G.B.T.Q. people to see themselves represented onscreen.
