I was told I’m so talented I never needed a matric: Motsoeneng

Motsoeneng is appearing before the Zondo Commission into State Capture.

He told the commission that he joined the broadcaster as a permanent employee in 1995 after being head-hunted by former editor, Alwyn Kloppers.

“I was head-hunted and I declared that, from the onset, that I never had a matric. We had a discussion with Alwyn and he said to me that I am so talented I don’t need a matric to work at the SABC,” explained Motsoeneng.

Motsoeneng claimed Kloppers recognised his contribution to the broadcaster while he was still freelancing.

He says while still freelancing, the SABC took him on a broadcasting course.
