A Pretoria family is looking for answers after their 89-year-old grandmother was allegedly assaulted at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria.
Bernie Nel, panicked when he received a call from the hospital on Tuesday morning to go there as soon as possible.
“At first I thought my mother-in-law might have died,” Nel told police yesterday.
He tried to file a complaint at the Moot police station in Pretoria about what happened to Adele Jackson, 89.
According to Nel, “Oumatjie”, as they refer to Jackson, was hospitalized to remove a tumour from her right eye.
“She started complaining that she couldn’t see well, anymore and she loved reading very much. With tests they realized there was a crop that they had to remove so that it could be tested for cancer, ”says Nel.
Jackson had to stay overnight in hospital after her surgery. At about 03:00, Jackson woke up and saw a dark figure standing beside her bed. An unknown woman punched her in the face.
“Fortunately, it wasn’t on my eye that was operated on,” Jackson said.
