This one takes a bit of processing. Lindiwe Sisulu, in her capacity as chair of the ANC’s Social Transformation Committee, has a radical proposal for schools. During a news conference held on Tuesday, she suggested that SA must split its quota of black and white learners – by a ratio of 50/50.
LINDIWE SISULU WANTS SCHOOLS TO BE 50% BLACK, AND 50% WHITE – BUT IT JUST WON’T WORK…
The puzzling suggestion comes just days after Minister Sisulu claimed to have ‘cancer medicine in her head‘. When referencing the late Jessie Duarte, the ANC stalwart bewildered South Africans. It now seems we’re being treated to another disaster-class.
For those of you a little taken aback by these proposals, you’re not alone. The DA has lambasted the idea, and FEDSAS claim it’s a ‘throwback to apartheid-era thinking’. Here’s what Lindiwe Sisulu told her audience yesterday – arguing that the move would ‘cultivate a South African identity’.
“No institution should be registered unless there is 50/50 (representation) of black students and white students in schools. We cannot cultivate a genuine South African identity. Not if everyone is not entitled to the same advantaged and benefits.”
RACIAL QUOTA PROPOSALS INFURIATE THE OPPOSITION
There are many, many flaws with this blueprint. South Africa’s racial demographics are so varied, that splitting classrooms into 50% white and 50% black learners would be impossible in many regions of the country.
Secondly, English and Afrikaans citizens only make up around 20% of Mzansi’s population. The only way Lindiwe Sisulu’s plans could work, therefore, is if millions of white children were to be brought into SA.
These bizarre proposals have also upset Baxolile Nodada. The Shadow Education Minister compared her thought-process to ‘racial engineering’.
“It was shocking to hear the ANC’s Social Transformation Committee Chair, Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, propose a so-called ’50/50′ racial model in schools. This is a classic example of the ANC misdiagnosing a problem and then giving it the wrong remedy on top of that.”
“Again, the pathological ANC seeks to use race as a way to categorise and treat people, this time innocent school children. The DA rejects the minister’s suggestion to racialise schools instead of fixing the dysfunction.”
