A woman from Paarl’s two toddlers were forced to watch five armed robbers assaulting their Father and Grandfather. Both of the victims hands were tied with cable ties.
The events unfolded after Hanelè Rabè arrived at her home in Langenhoven Avenue in Denneburg.
She saw a strange vehicle and a strange man standing in front of her house and another man on the porch. The gate leading to the house was also left open. at this stage, she wasn’t alerted to the danger and they were busy getting quotes for work around the house.
“I got out, closed the door of my car and walked into the yard.”
She says the man standing on the porch came to her and said to her, “Come on, my darling, your grandfather needs you.”
She then realized something was wrong.
“The man forced me into the house, right through to the back of my mother’s house.”
Rabè said as she walked into her parents’ house, she saw her father tied on the floor. There was blood on his face and head. He was hit with a firearm. Her husband was sitting on a chair in the living room. His hands were also tied with cable ties behind his back.
Rabè says for some reason the men did not take her handbag with her. Her cellphone was in it and she immediately called a neighbour who was involved with the neighbourhood watch and asked for help. She then called her brother and also the police.
A police spokesman, Sergeant. Noloyiso Rwexana, confirmed a house robbery took place at a house in Denneburg, Paarl, on Tuesday evening. According to a report, five men, one of whom was believed to be armed, entered the premises and threatened the victims with a firearm.
“Laptops, cell phones, a firearm and an unknown amount of money were stolen. The suspects fled the scene in a Chevrolet. No one has been arrested yet. ”
