WATCH: Police officer ASSAULTS woman

For now, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but according to anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee, the assault it took place at the Tembisa Police Station. Abramjee claims the unidentified woman had come to the police station to report a crime, but was instead met with violence from the very people mandated to protect and serve her.

But that’s not all: In a second clip, all hell breaks loose when the police officer realizes that his assault on the woman was being recorded.

The South African has reached out to the The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) for comment on the matter.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time such an incident is being reported. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has been known to attack civilians or at least being heavy handed. IPID has had a busy couple of months, looking into reports of law enforcement officials’ conduct, or lack thereof, when dealing with citizens.

News24 recently reported a worrying story about four police officers facing charges after attacking a group of women who had rejected their sexual advances.

While in the Western Cape, members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) in the province were investigated earlier this year after they were captured in video footage wielding sjamboks during a search operation that allegedly took place in Worcester.
